Roosevelt Dimes (1946-Date)
Roosevelt Dime die varieties are popular with many collectors. There are no rare date and mintmark combinations of the Roosevelt Dime, though a number of issues are scarce above MS-66 or with fully struck details. Proof coinage commenced in 1950, and these too are rare only in the highest grades. A collector should have no difficulty assembling a nice set of these dimes in choice to gem condition.
The Roosevelt Dime series is rich in both doubled-die and repunched mintmark varieties. There are also a number of proof coin varieties. Collectors fond of variety coins are drawn to the Roosevelt Dime series, perhaps as eagerly as straight date/mint collectors.
NGC will attribute Roosevelt Dime die varieties listed in VarietyPlus, which includes a very extensive listing of popular varieties, and these are the ones sought by collectors. Doubled-die varieties include 1946, 1950-D and 1963, as well as very obvious proof doubled-dies for 1960 and 1963.
